The Big 3-0

Brook turned 30 last Friday. Which would be the day after we got back from Disney.  Being the organized wife that I am, I had a fabulous dinner planned and heaps of presents waiting for my husband on his birthday.  Not.  It was more like, wake up Friday morning and think 'Oh no, I have no presents for him!'  So, I at least warn him and, being the wonderful man he is, Brook says, "That's ok, I signed up to play in a golf outing, that can be my present."  Yeah, he's awesome.  I decided I should at minimum make him a dessert.  So, Max and I head to Wallyworld to get the ingredients to make peanut butter pie.

My parents made an impromptu trip up to go charter fishing and my mom volunteered to watch Max, so Brook and I could go out to dinner.  We took her up on that offer and went out for a peaceful dinner at a new Indian restaurant in the area.  It was delicious!

As a disclaimer, I did have a party planned for Sunday at B-Dubs in GR.  I rented the back room and we had a great time eating wings, watching football and visiting with everyone.  We were blessed that so many of our family and friends came to celebrate.  I know Brook felt so loved and I loved seeing him so happy.

And on a sappy level, (b/c you know that's me!), Brook does or says something everyday which makes me think, 'Wow, I'm lucky to be married to him.'  He is an amazing husband, but I really love to hear him interact with Max.  He's so hands on with him and has been from day 1.  Tonight, I was doing some baking, so Brook gave Max his bath.  My heart was swelling with pride and love as I heard him in the bathroom, singing, talking with Max and naming all of Max's little squirty sea creatures.  Charlie the crab, Sammie the squid, Walley the whale.  It was so cute and simple, but it's the simple things that make our lives wonderful.  He inspires me everyday, b/c he's so calm and patient with Max.  It is unbelievable really.  He is an awesome dad.  I know it and I hope Max always knows it, too.  I am lucky to be married to him.

The party started with Brook being entered into a wing eating contest.  Not just any wings, but 12 blazing wings.  He was selected and won.  Crazy man!
